A Spring Day at English Bay Craft Beer

We were out for one of our post-work walks and decided to stop at the new Craft Beer location overlooking English Bay to catch some sun and the sunset.

Due to Covid restrictions on restaurants (dining on outdoor patios only) there was a wait for the table but we ended up waiting only 15 minutes. We sat on the beach in the sun until they texted us our table was ready then walked right in.

We had a great table on the upper patio in the sun and overlooking the beach.

To drink, I had the ginger beer (free refills!) and GL had the blackberry lemonade.

The lemonade was tasty with blackberry and fresh mint but litre but too sweet for both of us. The ginger beer was fresh and spicy just as ginger beer should be.

To start we ordered 4 fish tacos. They were able to accommodate a gluten and dairy allergy by subbing in corn tortillas and not adding the lime crema.

For dinner I got the classic burger with a gluten free bun and fries.  The fries had a special beer salt that had gluten so they said they would use regular salt instead.

Gluten Lips ordered the Cajun chicken. For the allergy they couldn’t do the coleslaw but gave him more smashed potatoes with no cream.

We were hoping the tacos would come first but everything came at once. The tacos were so tasty. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned with a Cajun sort of spice. There was a red sauce on the side and a slice lime that I added to my tacos. Would highly recommend these.

My burger was incredible. The gluten free bun was soft and held together and the burger wasn’t too greasy and didn’t fall apart either. The fries were good but a bit too much salt for my taste.

Gluten Lips loved the Cajun chicken. The chicken was blackened on top but tender and juicy inside. The smashed potatoes were crispy but soft and the taste was incredible. It was also a very generous portion of potatoes. It would have been nice to have some vegetables, but since he couldn’t have the coleslaw, this made sense.

Overall a simple but delicious meal that was fast and safe. The servers were awesome about my allergies and went above and beyond to accommodate them and confirmed everything with me. And the view on a sunny day can’t be beat. We will be back often!
