We were craving authentic Mexican tacos so we headed to the best of the best – Pancho’s Takos in Mezcales (between Nuevo Vallarta and Bucerias). It is sort of in the middle of nowhere so for that reason you see mostly locals and not many tourists.
We both had the non-alcoholic hibiscus drink to start which is one of my favorite mexican drinks. They do free refills so we enjoyed a couple of these each!
I chose beef and mushroom and chicken tacos while GL only wanted the Al Pastor tacos. Al Pastor is a special seasoning on rotisserie pork like you see at falafel places and everyone in Mexico raves about Al Pastor, so it’s worth checking out at a few Mexican places. They do Al Pastor really well here!
The chicken and beef tacos were my favorite. They come out piping hot and the cilantro and onion are the perfect topping. I just tried one of the salsas that wasn’t too spicy as I don’t love a lot of heat. Be forewarned the green sauce has cream in it so I steer away from this.
GL had 8 Al Pastor tacos and could not get enough. He would eat these everyday if he could. He loves the spice and flavor and even adds extra cilantro and onion.
There is another Pancho’s location in Puerto Vallarta on the Malecon but it is smaller and super busy so we prefer this location. I would highly recommend Pancho’s Takos in Mezcales!
