Along our walk tonight on the seawall we noticed an Earnest Ice Cream food truck parked near English Bay. We’re big fans of their ice cream and stopped by.
Since it was a food truck they had more limited options than their storefront, but there were 3 vegan options and 2 of those were also gluten free.
We went with one scoop of the vegan nanaimo bar. She did say there could be traces of gluten because some almond flour in the ice cream came from a facility that also processes gluten but we were okay with traces.
At first bite you could definitely taste the resemblance to a nanaimo bar with a coconut undercurrent. It was so rich and creamy and truly tasted like dairy ice cream. You don’t always get interesting flavours with vegan ice cream, but Earnest Ice Cream never disappoints. Definitely check out Earnest Ice Cream English Bay food truck next time you’re in English Bay!
We are still patiently awaiting gluten free cones and hope they will offer them one day. 🙂
