After a beautiful hike around rainbow falls, we noticed a crepe stand called Folie Crepes French Food Truck set up at Rainbow Park that mentioned gluten free and vegan options. We were salivating waiting for these!
The staff were from France and super friendly and warm. All gluten free crepes were also vegan so we didn’t have to worry about dairy. I ordered the gluten free ham and egg crepe, the vegan crepe with spinach, hummus and tomato, and for dessert the honey and lemon gluten free crepe.
We believe the crepes were made with buckwheat and they were surprisingly thin for gluten free. I loved the ham and egg one. It’s normally supposed to have cheese which I’m sure would have been nice. A suggestion would be to offer vegan cheese in the future. But regardless this was a simple crepe but still tasty and filling.
The vegan one was also good but I didn’t love the combo of flavours as much. I also struggle with vegan food as it just doesn’t feel as filling. I almost wanted to add salt to this one. I did like that we got some veggies in as most of the crepes didn’t have any vegetables.
The dessert crepe had a very subtle lemon flavour with a little bit of lemon. It was good, but we wished there was more to it. Certainly nothing like a Nutella or strawberry crepe with cream. But with our restrictions we were limited in options.
At the end I also went back and got the homemade lemonade after I heard someone else raving about it. It was a cucumber and lemonade fusion and I’ve never had anything like it. Not too sweet and the cucumber made it so refreshing and took away the bite of the tart lemon. I could drink this all summer long and want the recipe!
Definitely try out Folie Crepes French Food Truck if you see it around the Whistler parks this summer!
