Quick Dinner at Tractor Foods on West 4th

We were in Kits this evening and were craving a healthy salad. After some googling we decided on Tractor Foods which has gluten and dairy free options.

They have a menu that shows all allergens in each dish and side which was super helpful.

We ordered the wild salmon bowl and the chicken bowl.

With the salmon bowl we got half and half green and rice, a potato and pea side, a quinoa side and added half a grilled avocado.

For the chicken bowl, we got half and half greens, potato and pea side, and kimchi side, and again half a grilled avocado.

For the sides, the three above were the only ones that were gf and df, so the options were a little limited in that sense.

We were expecting the smoked salmon bowl to be slices of smoked salmon but they were chunks in a mayo dill dressing. Super tasty and you could taste the smoky flavour. Both sides were nice and light and also filling. The grilled avocado tasted a bit smoky and was nice to have warm. I loved how healthy, fresh and light this bowl tasted.

The chicken was very moist but had an artificial look to it. Not sure how they make it or how they keep it so moist. These sides were equally light and fresh. We do wish a few more sides were gf and df for variety. Again, a super light and refreshing dish that is perfect for a healthy meal out.

We also got a blueberry mint lemonade which was a bit sweet. I added ¼ cup of water after I drank a bit and that took it to the right level of sweetness.

They had a nice patio outdoors and it wasn’t too busy. If all tables were full it would have felt cramped, but there was only us and another table. It’s close to the busy traffic of West 4th which is a bit noisy but not too bad.

Overall, a great fast healthy meal option. Since there weren’t that many gf and df options I don’t know how much I would come back, but if I really wanted a healthy salad and didn’t mind having the exact same thing as last time, I would definitely check them out.
