Craft Beer Market English Bay

Tonight Gluten Lips and I found our way back to Craft Beer Market in English Bay. It’s just such an amazing patio and great food that caters to our allergies so we love it. Plus nothing beats this patio on a sunny evening after being cooped up inside working! We requested a patio table in the sun and after a 45 minute wait we were seated. Honestly the wait isn’t too bad on a weekday if you go expecting it and not being so hungry you need to eat right away.

I recently had food poisoning so I was craving something super healthy and fresh. I didn’t feel like drinking anything so we just stuck with water. There are somewhat limited items on the menu that are gluten and dairy free that we haven’t already tried, so for an appy we had chips and guac. The tortilla chips had chilli powder on them which was a nice touch and GL said they reminded him of chips he would eat growing up. The guac was tasty and fresh. I might have liked a larger serving but that’s almost always the case. It was the perfect light appetizer to tide us over until the main dish.

I went with the Cali bowl with a chicken breast and they substituted a vegan dressing since the original dressing had dairy in it. It had a grilled avocado which I had never tried before. It made the avocado taste slightly smoky though I must say I’m not really sure why it was grilled? In any event it was tasty! The salad was exactly what I was looking for: lots of fresh veggies like green beans, beets, kale, and also rice to add some carbs. The grilled chicken was moist and flavorful and perfectly charred on the grill. I loved the salad and would 100% recommend it and get it again.

GL went with the ribs. It normally comes with coleslaw but there is some dairy in that so he substituted for a green salad. The ribs had more of a dry rub rather than BBQ sauce and came with a chimichurri dipping sauce. He was in the mood for some southern comfort food and this dish definitely fit the bill. It also came with fried corn rice which was light yet flavorful. He devoured the ribs and loved the smoky mesquite dry rub and said the chimichurri was a nice balance. The salad was standard but nice to add some veggies and greens to a heavier dish.

We always love coming to Craft Beer Market English Bay. They have one the best patios in the city for the sunset and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. There is always a wait for the patio so go with the expectation that you will wait up to one hour on weekdays and up to two hours on weekends. Go enjoy the beach and sunshine while you wait!
