GL and I headed to 3×3 Authentic Food in Nuevo Vallarta for breakfast as we still hadn’t had the chance to grab any groceries.
This is a super cute small shop that you might not notice if you drove by. The owner is so friendly and was so thankful for us coming as she said they had barely any business for almost two years due to Covid. We were grateful to be there! They had someone playing guitar which was fun for breakfast.
GL had the Mexican combo and I had the Rancheros combo. They were able to make both gluten free, though we couldn’t have the bread and pasties that came with the combo as they didn’t have a substitute.
The combos all come with tea or coffee, fruit cocktail and juice. We appreciated these extra as we were hungry and thirsty!
My rancheros dish was simple but filling. I had it on corn tortillas instead of bread. No cheese was mentioned on the menu but both of our dishes came with cheese and GLs had some sort of cream sauce as well. Often in PVR we have found they sprinkle cheese on top of dishes when it’s not mentioned on the menu, so make sure to mention you’re dairy free at any restaurant, regardless of what the menu says. We took off what we could but otherwise ate it.
GLs dish was super filling being that it had steak. It would be too much to have often, but if it’s only every now and again, this was a different breakfast that kept him full for hours. The dishes came out pretty quickly and the staff were helpful though they didn’t speak much English so some things were hard to communicate. The owner spoke perfect English.
I would definitely recommend checking out 3×3 Authentic Food Nuevo Vallarta for breakfast or lunch if you’re in the area!
